表示跟意料相反，反而；或表示事情不是那样，有责怪、反问的语气。

Indicating something contrary to expectation, 'on the contrary'; or expressing a tone of reproach or rhetorical question.

Usage

通常用在复句的后一分句里，表示转折或对比；也可以用在单句中表示出乎意料。

Usually used in the latter clause of a compound sentence to indicate contrast or turn; or in a simple sentence to express unexpectedness.
