1. Information We Collect

Personal Data: We collect only your name and email address when you sign up with Google or Apple, or with your email address — including when you sign in from the browser extension. We do not collect any other personal information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide, personalize, and improve our services, as follows:

• AI-Generated Content: Our platform uses AI to generate text and images to assist in language learning.
• Text Analysis: We use AI to analyze your text inputs to provide feedback and insights aimed at helping you learn a foreign language effectively.
• Personalized Language Learning: Your interactions, including text and voice input, help us deliver language-learning experiences tailored to your progress and needs.

3. Data Storage and Security

We use session storage to maintain your login state and improve the usability of our platform during your session. Your learning data (exercises, progress, and settings) is stored on our servers so it stays in sync across your devices.

4. The Browser Extension

The HSK Training browser extension is designed so that your reading stays private:

• The dictionary is bundled inside the extension. Word lookups happen entirely on your device — the pages you read, their addresses, and the words you look up are never sent to our servers or to anyone else.
• The only word ever transmitted is one you explicitly choose to save; it is sent to your own HSK Training account, where it joins your learning queue.
• If you sign in, the extension stores your email address and a session token in your browser's extension storage, on your device; both are removed when you sign out. Your on/off preference and per-site settings are also stored in extension storage and may sync across your devices through your browser profile.
• When you play a word's pronunciation, the recording is fetched from our content delivery network; that request carries no account identifier and no information about the page you are reading.
• The extension contains no analytics, no trackers, and no third-party SDKs.

5. Cookies, Analytics, and Crash Reporting

We use a small number of third-party services to understand how HSK Training is used and to keep it working reliably. We use them only for the purposes described below — never for advertising, cross-site tracking, or selling your data.

• Google Analytics (web): With your consent, we use Google Analytics cookies to understand how the platform is used (pages visited, exercises practiced) so we can improve it. When you are signed in, these usage signals include a pseudonymous account identifier (an internal account number, never your name or email) so we can understand how the platform is used across devices. If you decline via the cookie banner, no analytics cookies are set and only anonymous, cookieless usage signals are collected. You can change your choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
• Firebase Analytics (mobile app): Our mobile app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to collect usage statistics (screens visited, features used) via a device identifier. When you are signed in, these statistics include the same pseudonymous account identifier as on the web (an internal account number, never your name or email), so we can understand how the platform is used across devices. This helps us understand which features are useful and where learners get stuck.
• Sentry (crash and performance reporting): When the app encounters an error, we send a crash report to Sentry containing technical information such as your device model, operating system version, app version, and the error details. We use this solely to diagnose and fix bugs and performance problems.

You can opt out of analytics cookies on the web at any time via the cookie banner. If you would like your analytics data deleted, or wish to opt out of analytics in the mobile app, contact us at [email protected] and we will handle your request.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

HSK Training does not share or disclose your personal information with any third parties, except as required by law. Anonymous usage statistics are processed by Google (Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics) on our behalf, and crash reports are processed by Sentry on our behalf; none of this data is used or shared for advertising purposes.

7. Account Deletion and Data Reset

You can delete your account in either of two ways:

• In the mobile app: open Settings and choose the delete-account option. We will process your request and confirm by email.
• By email: contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete your account and any associated data.

Deleting your account permanently removes your account and all data connected to it, including your learning history and settings. If you prefer, you can instead ask us to reset your account: we will delete all data connected to your account (learning history, progress, and settings) while keeping the account itself, so you can start fresh with the same login.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
