Definition

使好的事物（如传统、精神、文化等）发展并推广，使其更加光大。

To develop and promote good things (such as traditions, spirits, culture) to make them more glorious and widespread.

Usage

通常用作谓语，后面可接宾语，如“发扬光大中华民族的优秀传统”。也可以单独使用。

Usually used as predicate, can take an object, e.g., 'carry forward and develop the excellent traditions of the Chinese nation.' It can also be used independently.
