由于风俗习惯或个人原因而避免某些言行；也指应当避免的事情。

To avoid certain words or actions due to customs or personal reasons; also refers to things that should be avoided.

常用于表示因禁忌或避讳而有所顾忌，也可指某人的敏感点或禁忌事项。

Often used to indicate scruples due to taboos or avoidances, and can also refer to someone's sensitive point or forbidden matter.

1 过年前打扫卫生时，要小心打碎东西，这是忌讳。 (When cleaning before the New Year, be careful not to break things; this is a taboo.)
2 他非常忌讳别人提到他的年龄。 (He is very sensitive about others mentioning his age.)
3 在婚礼上，谈论离婚的话题是大忌讳。 (Talking about divorce at a wedding is a major taboo.)
