Cotton is the seed fiber of plants in the genus Gossypium, native to subtropical regions. The shrub-like plant produces creamy white flowers that wilt, leaving bolls containing seeds and fibers. The fibers are white or yellowish, 2-4 cm long, primarily used for textiles.

Cotton is an important cash crop, commonly used in the textile industry to make clothing and fabrics, as well as for producing cottonseed oil and paper. In everyday language, it often refers to cotton fiber or pure cotton products.
