Definition

事物发展过程中显现出来的趋势或迹象。

Signs or trends that emerge in the course of development.

Usage

多用于指不好的事情即将发生的预兆,但也可用于一般迹象。

Often used to refer to omens of something bad about to happen, but can also refer to general signs.

Examples

  • 1 他看到股市有点苗头,就赶紧买进了。 (He saw a sign in the stock market and quickly bought in.)
  • 2 这种不良苗头要及时制止。 (Such bad signs should be stopped in time.)
  • 3 从最近的调查中,我们看出了一些新苗头。 (From the recent survey, we see some new trends.)
  • 4 老师发现他有厌学的苗头,就找他谈话。 (The teacher noticed signs of him losing interest in studying and talked to him.)
  • 5 局势出现缓和苗头,双方开始谈判。 (Signs of easing emerged in the situation, and both sides began negotiations.)
