Definition

在汉语中除了基本含义“接、续”外,还有多种高级用法。主要作为副词或词,用于表示强调、包含或顺序等。常见高级结构包括“...都/也...”表示“甚至”,用于强调最不可能或最低限度的情况;"...带..."表示“同...一起”,接两个并列成分;以及“...再...”表示动作的续或顺序。

In Chinese, (lián) has basic meanings of 'connect' or 'continue', but also advanced uses as an adverb or conjunction for emphasis, inclusion, or sequence. Common advanced patterns include '...都/也...' meaning 'even', used to emphasize the least likely or minimal case; '...带...' meaning 'along with' or 'both...and...', connecting two parallel elements; and '...再...' indicating consecutive or sequential actions.

Usage

Advanced uses are common in both spoken and written language, mainly for emphasis or enumeration. - ...都/也...: Place before a noun, pronoun, or verb phrase, followed by 都 or 也, to emphasize that the element reaches an extreme degree. E.g., 他都知道。(lian + noun + dou/ye + predicate) - ...带...: Place two nouns, verbs, or phrases between and 带, indicating both are included or occur simultaneously. E.g., 说带笑 (lian + verb1 + dai + verb2) - ...再...: Less common, used to indicate completing one action before another, e.g., 吃再拿. Note: is pronounced lián in these patterns, but in basic uses it can also be liàn (e.g., in 队).
