按照 vs 根据

Definition

按照：遵照、依从某种规定、顺序或模式。根据：以某种事实、依据或信息为基础。

按照: to comply with or follow a rule, order, or pattern. 根据: based on a fact, basis, or information.

Usage

按照后通常接规定、计划、步骤、顺序等，强调遵从；根据后接事实、数据、信息、说法等，强调依据。在表达遵从指令时多用“按照”，在表达推理或判断依据时多用“根据”。

按照 is usually followed by regulations, plans, procedures, or orders, emphasizing compliance; 根据 is followed by facts, data, information, or statements, emphasizing basis. Use 按照 for following instructions, and 根据 for citing evidence or reasons.
