Definition

表示让步的连词，相当于“虽然”，用于引出一种情况，然后指出与之相反或出乎意料的结果。

A conjunction expressing concession, equivalent to 'although', used to introduce a situation and then indicate a contrary or unexpected result.

Usage

通常用在转折复句的前一分句，后一分句常有“但是”、“可是”、“却”等词呼应。也可以单独使用，表示“尽管这样”。

Usually used in the first clause of a contrasting compound sentence, often with '但是', '可是', or '却' in the following clause. Can also be used alone to mean 'despite that'.

Examples

  • 1 尽管天气很冷，他还是去游泳了。(Although the weather was cold, he still went swimming.)
  • 2 尽管她工作很忙，但是每天都坚持锻炼。(Although she is busy with work, she still exercises every day.)
  • 3 尽管这个任务很难，我们却按时完成了。(Although this task was difficult, we completed it on time.)
  • 4 尽管他不喜欢甜食，但还是吃了这块蛋糕。(Although he doesn't like sweets, he still ate this piece of cake.)
  • 5 尽管下着大雨，他们仍然出发了。(Although it was raining heavily, they still set off.)
  • 6 尽管我解释了很多遍，他还是不明白。(Although I explained many times, he still didn't understand.)
