Structure

[Noun or Group of Nouns] + 甚至 + [Emphasized Noun] + 都 / 也 ⋯⋯ ⋯⋯，甚至 + (连) ⋯⋯ + 都 / 也

Translations

表示强调，用于提出一个极端或意想不到的例子，通常与'都、也'连用，说明情况的程度之深。

Used to emphasize an extreme or unexpected example, often paired with 都 or 也, to indicate the depth of a situation.

Usage

用于递进关系，强调后一个选项比前一个选项更进一步，或表示某种情况下甚至出现了最不可能的结果。常放在被强调的成分之前，主语后或动词前。

Used in progressive relationships to emphasize that the latter option goes further than the former, or to indicate that even the most unlikely result occurs in a certain situation. Often placed before the emphasized element, after the subject or before the verb.

  • 1 他工作非常努力，甚至周末也不休息。（He works so hard that he doesn't even take weekends off.）
  • 2 这个问题很简单，甚至小孩子都能回答。（This question is so simple that even a child can answer it.）
  • 3 她不仅会说中文，甚至会写古诗。（Not only can she speak Chinese, she can even write ancient poems.）
  • 4 天气太冷了，甚至湖面都结冰了。（The weather is so cold that even the lake has frozen.）
  • 5 他平时很节省，甚至连一杯咖啡都舍不得买。（He is usually very frugal, to the point that he is even reluctant to buy a cup of coffee.）
  • 6 这部电影太感人了，我甚至看哭了。（This movie is so touching that I even cried.）
  • 7 他是我最好的朋友，我甚至愿意为他付出生命。（He is my best friend, and I am even willing to give my life for him.）
