以为（yǐwéi）表示错误地认为某事是真实的，但事实并非如此。

Indicates mistakenly believing something to be true, but the fact is not.

通常用于指出之前的想法或假设是错误的。后面常跟一个分句或从句，说明实际的情况。

Usually used to point out that a previous thought or assumption was wrong. It is often followed by a clause stating the actual situation.
