Definition

“另外”用于表示“除了前面提到的人或事物以外的其他”，相当于“别的”、“其他的”。

"Lìngwài" is used to refer to "the other" or "another" apart from the previously mentioned person or thing, equivalent to "other" or "else".

Usage

通常放在名词前作定语，或单独使用作主语、宾语。也可以与“的”字结构结合。在列举时引出另一点。

It is typically placed before a noun as an attributive, or used alone as subject or object. It can also combine with "de" (的) structure. It can introduce another point when listing.

Examples

  • 1 这两个苹果，一个给你，另外一个给我。 (Of these two apples, one is for you, the other is for me.)
  • 2 除了这本，还有另外一本书在桌子上。 (Besides this one, there is another book on the table.)
  • 3 我不喜欢这个颜色，另外那个怎么样？ (I don't like this color, what about the other one?)
  • 4 他不在家，你找另外的人吧。 (He is not at home, find someone else.)
  • 5 首先，我们需要准备材料；另外，还要注意安全。 (First, we need to prepare materials; additionally, we must pay attention to safety.)
