The particle '呗' (bei) is a modal particle used in spoken Chinese, often at the end of a sentence, to indicate that something is obvious, to express resignation, concession, or to make a suggestion casually.

Usage

“呗”常用于口语中，放在句尾，表示道理简单、明显或不必争论；也可用于表示无奈地接受某种情况；或用于提出建议，带有轻松、随意的口气。

'呗' is used in colloquial speech, placed at the end of a sentence. It can indicate that something is self-evident or not worth arguing about; express reluctant acceptance; or make a suggestion in a casual tone.

Examples

  • 1 你想去就去呗，反正我无所谓。 (If you want to go, just go. I don't care anyway.)
  • 2 他不想来就不来呗，少他一个也没关系。 (If he doesn't want to come, then don't come. It's fine without him.)
  • 3 这道题不会做？问老师呗，老师会告诉你的。 (Can't solve this problem? Just ask the teacher. The teacher will tell you.)
  • 4 既然大家都同意，那就这么办呗。 (Since everyone agrees, let's just do it this way.)
  • 5 你等我一下呗，我马上就好。 (Wait for me a moment, I'll be ready soon.)
